Food: In Hub We Trust

Hi guys, an important topic today and yes of course it's about food. In this case about burgers. You may or not know that I am a giant foodie, and because of this I thought I would share with you a place I always go running back to - The Hub Box. If you don't live in the South West, well to be quite honest you are missing out because there are only a few Hubs and they are all down here. If you ever visit, just go no questions asked.

The Hub Box is aimed to be a laid back atmosphere with an urban edge to it - perfect for all you hipsters out there, or anyone in fact. It all started off in Exeter within a shipping container, edgy right? Right, on to the food!

Let's talk buns. Glazed buns to be exact. With the American feel you can probably guess there's a lot to choose from ranging from HUGE to light or veggie options. My personal fave is above - Betsy - Home-made falafel, sweet chilli jam, charred corn and avocado salsa for only £6.50 but if I'm feeling meaty I go for the Hub burger - 7oz burger with Swiss cheese, crispy smoked bacon & Hub sauce. Dreamy huh.

Next, let's talk about the decor. I am a sucker for unique decor, and within all of The Hubs one of my favourites has to be Truro, it's build within an old church with towering ceilings, urban light bulbs and hand painted drawings. My second favourite probably sits with St Ives, (pictured below) looking over the harbour just gives it a different feel to the others. More chilled, perfect in summer when you want to take a break from soaking up the sun.

Finally, gherkins. If you always say you don't like gherkins, hold your tongue before you visit this place. They're salty but sweet, and moreish - I'm not joking, stop thinking about McDonalds gherkins! Oh and one more thing, this isn't an ad I just flipping love it.

So that's it, a little post about one of my ultimate favourite places to sit down, chill out and grab a delicious burger. Visit if you have a chance!

  1. Look at the toasted bun! I shouldn't have read this before lunch as I'm probably going to think I'm Jamie Oliver when I get in the kitchen. Anywhere that isn't stingy with gherkins is my kinda place, it looks great!
