10 Pick Me Ups

Buy flowers

Sometimes that £3 can be the best thing you've spent all day. Flowers don't just brighten your room but also brightens your mood and will hopefully bring some colour into your day!

Send card to a friend

Taking a little time to congratulate or contact a friend can really boost your day. Congratulate them on their new job, moving house or just send a postcard to your friend who lives on the other side of the world. Receiving a thoughtful message can really make someone's day and of course that's going to make you happy too.

Go out for a coffee

Step out of the house, call a friend, your boyfriend, your mum to join you for a cuppa - or go solo! Sometimes it can perk you up just to get out and about, be among different surroundings and take some time out to clear your head.

Look through your box of memories

You may be bored and want to find something to make you smile. Flicking through a box of old memoirs and photos can be the perfect pick me up after a long day of feeling miserable. And nobody wants that.

People watch

Watching others, noticing their quirky ways, funny facial expressions or just admiring someone's mannerisms can be the perfect way to distract you from the stresses of everyday life. And who doesn't like a good people watching sesh?

Exercise

Go for a run, do the corpse pose, stretch. Getting your heart racing and your muscles stretching can release those endorphins and make you feel one hundred times better about yourself.

Write a list of your inspirations and goals

Get busy and write lists about anything and everything. Putting pen to paper can defuse some steam and your set for some new goals which boosts your motivation.

Tidy your space

Even just tidying and organising your drawers can perk you up, it keeps you busy and clears your head. There's nothing worse than walking into your own personal space and not feeling content and comfortable in your own surroundings. Put those clothes back on the rail you mucky pups *goes to hang clothes*.

Snap happy

Take photos. Go for a walk and photograph everything that you find beautiful or interesting, take photos of your family, your best friend, your dog!

Make your favourite comfort food

I think making your favourite comfort food for a main meal is such a good way to keep yourself busy and stops you from finding comfort in snacks like that big bag of m&ms. It could be lasagne, mac and cheese, homemade pizza the list is endless! (Let me know your fave comfort food!)

  4. I completely agree with every single one of these! I especially love brightening up my space with some flowers - it always makes me 10x happier. My favourite comfort food is "toad in the hole", as I mentioned in my latest blog post it's what I cook whenever I'm feeling homesick at uni!

  5. Tidy/ organising my house always picks me up and makes me feel so refreshed. I do love nothing more though than purchasing myself a beautiful bunch of flowers - even if they're a cheapy £3.00 from tesco. The joy they give me is worth so much more than £3.00! Lovely post!

  13. I think for me, the best pick me up is a good cry, or just being alone. Just letting it out or being by myself was so helpful. It's what I do <3

  14. My favourite pick me up is going to brunch with a friend or family member, there's something about that cafe vibe and the fact that I don't have to make my own food that always seems to cheer me up? haha

  23. This list could easily be named '10 ways I procrastinate from doing any work but still feel like I've accomplished something' - BUT they do always make me feel better. I especially love taking myself out for a coffee somewhere where I'll then write a list of things I want to accomplish AND snap photos. Thanks for sharing :)
