10 Ways To Make Room For 'Me Time'

Life can become seriously hectic, which means sometimes you forget to make time for yourself. This can result in you feeling tired, down and simply not taking the deserved break your mind and body needs.

Whether you have a pamper night filled with face masks, films and blankets or a walk to reflect on your day - there's so many little things you can add into your day for 'me time'.

Have a pamper sesh

The obvious choice is a night of pampering. Go solo, or get a few friends around - your 'me time' doesn't just have to be by yourself, enjoy it with others! Grab yourself your pampering essentials: face mask, nail varnish, Lush bath bomb, movies, blankets, candles and of course, a big bag of chocolate (a share bag obviously).

Go for a stroll

Take a stroll in one of your happy places - is it the beach, woods or a busy high street? Go outside and see what you can find.

Ring a friend you haven't spoken to for a while

Catch up with friends and family, write a postcard or send a simple text to say hello. Everyone understands life can be busy, sometimes it can be months since you spoke to one of your close friends but that shouldn't matter. It's time for a catch up - so chat the night away.

Scribble in your journal

Writing in your journal can give you time to reflect, figure out what your goals are and scribble down your worries. Not only does it pass the time, it's a great way to document daily life and see how things have changed. I don't write a journal, but I can definitely recommend 'One Line A Day' - all you need is two minutes to write down a sentence at the end of your day. This could be how you're feeling, something which happened in your day which made you happy or anything on your mind.

Chill with a book

Put aside an hour to read, it's the greatest distraction and if you're a screen hog like me - it will give you a chance to step away from the online world.

Get your apron on

Discover new recipes, get the rolling pin out and get baking! It's a great way to be mindful in the moment, forget about your worries and concentrate on creating a masterpiece - and don't forget to snap your creation!

Become a pro at something new

Maybe you have always wanted to learn a song on the guitar, improve your painting skills or become a pro at public speaking. Learning a new skill gives you the chance to build upon yourself and have fun in the process!

Treat yourself

It's time to treat yourself. You've probably earned it, so browse the web or click 'buy' on that bag you've wanted for over a month now!

Do life admin

It's time for a little refresh. Have a spring clean, reply to emails, exercise, book a hair appointment and pay the bills. Tick those things off of your list, and feel so much better for doing so.

Say no

Most people struggle with saying no to things but sometimes you have to put yourself first. If someone is badgering on at you to do something or you've simply been asked to join people for a night out - it's ok to say no. Sometimes you need a night in, and a big dollop of me time.

  13. This is such a lovely post. I'm a big believer in me-time, and as an introvert I need a lot of it. Basically all of these I do regularly, except for the pamper sesh bit! I should do that more often.
