Escaping To The Sea

Do you ever feel like escaping to the sea? That makes two of us.

I feel so so lucky to be able to wake up and decide right there and then I'm going to pack a blanket and head to the sea. Here in Cornwall we have so many beautiful seascapes to choose from, I usually choose Godrevy for its stunning sunsets and fields to laze around in - you can sometimes spot seals sunbathing on the hidden beach up on the cliffs too.

Last Saturday we thought we would make the most of the sunshine and bank holiday weekend by grabbing a few friends, blankets and a pack of cards. We also got our hands on some pasties too before we jumped in the car - yes, the rumours are true, Cornish people generally do live on pasties and I will not tolerate anyone mentioning Greggs in the comments!

It was a lovely few hours beside the sea, we dipped our toes in the sea, snapped some photos and then headed for a Mr B's icecream. It's seriously heavenly, I went for the key lime pie and cherry swirl - no regrets.

A few days later, we were back. After a drizzly day and a mammoth search for a cool bag, we headed for a perfect little spot on the cliff edge and got our bbq on. We watched the water and also at the family pitching up their tent beside us, seems this secret little spot was also someone else's.

Watching the sun set over the water is definitely one of my favourite things to do, and something I find so special about living beside the sea.

  4. Oh those skies! And that ice cream! I just love salty sea air, it's so crisp and refreshing and comforting at the same time. I absolutely adore being by the sea, although I'm slowly beginning to embrace city life again a little more!

  13. That ice cream looks divine! It's lovely living by the sea, right? I live on the coast and sure, I could probably live in a city...but I will always return to the coast in some shape or form. You can't beat that sea air, or those sunrises/sunsets.
