Croatia & Venice Travel Photo Diary

Earlier this month, myself and some friends headed to Croatia to chase the sun, relax and do a little bit of exploring. I have to say this country wasn't on my travel bucket list but if anything comes out of this blog post, it should have been!

Although most of the days were spent soaking up the sun in our hotel, we explored the nearby beaches, headed on a day trip to Venice and travelled across Croatia by coach to reach Plitvice Lakes National Park. I didn't go crazy with photos, but luckily we are all photography nerds, so we managed to get a lovely collection together.

Dreamy Sunsets

Just outside our hotel was a stunning beach, most of the days the swimming pool at the hotel would be heaving, so we'd head down to the beach where we could find the perfect spot and go for a dip. We would find a grassy area beside the sea and lie there for hours, reading and sadly failing to get tanned. We were so lucky to be so close, not only for the gorgeous sunsets but we went out to sea on a pedalo and also went on a huge water inflatable obstacle course - where on route, I was stung by a sea urchin, so that was all fun and games!

A day trip to Venice, Italy

Venice has always been a place I've been dying to visit and when we found out we could visit on a day trip, we jumped at the chance. We took a ferry from Porec and the team on board were super helpful, offering excursions which made the trip a lot more stress-free.

It took around three hours to get to Venice and the views as we made our when in was just stunning. This little city, floating on water was something special - and did you know Elton John has a little house here? After going through customs, we got another boat and was dropped off by The Bridge of Sighs. We walked along through the crowds and made our way to St Mark's Square.

There's no way you could see Venice in just one afternoon, so we spent it wandering around, eating pizza, drinking coffee and discovering new canals and beautiful buildings. We ended the trip with a boat trip through the grand canal and a very very sick ferry ride home - but it was totally worth it.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

We spent hours on a coach to get to this stunning national park but it gave us a chance to really take in Croatia and its sights. I would never imagine it would be so beautiful, with such lush surroundings of trees and mountains.

This national park is the largest in Croatia, with 16 beautiful terraced lakes joined by waterfalls. We were on a little hiking tour, taking us across the lakes. The water was the bluest I have ever seen, with huge fish swimming beside us as we walked. I would 100% recommend this if you visit, such a stunning part of the country!
